Just to bookend this first day of the weekend after going back to work, here's the post of today. Ummm, wow! My boys are the biggest whiney brats. I don't know why but my fuse was so short today. Everything the littles did seemed to frustrate me beyond measure. I do feel bad but it seems like I'm getting to the end of my rope so easily with Liam these days. I know a lot of it has to do with him pushing his boundaries a little further now that he's 3. But still, WHY?!!!
Liam got up a little after 7am and was totally happy just totally loud for the first hour. Then his day went downhill fast. He "made a mess" by spilling his dry cereal all over his Green Ghost (who we just frickin' cleaned last night); it wasn't a mess, but he refused to either eat it or pick it up. Colin decided that he wasn't going to be happy unless he was in my arms so I couldn't exactly get any chores done. Jon was sleeping the morning away on the couch. I figured if I couldn't do housework I could try to do some work-work that I brought home but the boys were not going to have it. Colin spit up on me at almost every feeding and he took two 30 minute naps (that's all). He also was just a major complain-atron for the whole damn day.
Liam did not nap, but at least he entertained himself for a couple hours in his room. He peed on the living room floor after twenty minutes of sitting on his potty and on the big toilet watching videos of peeing on the potty (yes you can find those on YouTube). He shrieked at the highest pitch he could muster and threw trucks at me so I sent him to his room. During his bath, he insisted on getting more soap for the bath pouf but I wouldn't let him have it. So he tried to "climb" the corner bath shelf and yanked it so hard that EVERYTHING flew off of it and into the tub around him and scaring him (except for the particular quart sized bottle of baby shampoo that he had been trying to get - umm yeah, that flew out directly at my head by the other wall of the bathroom where I'd been sitting).
He went down to bed easily but Colin decided that he was finally going to be happy and cheerful for the first time today when I was trying to put him down. Such a cheeky monkey :)
So yeah, it felt like everything happening in this house today was created to irritate me. If I hadn't just had a cycle, I would swear it was my TOM. Grrrrrr. It's a good thing they're so cute or I'd probably have eaten them out of frustration.

laundry and chores
Today I got to sleep in! Until 10! It was blissful. I was so tired after yesterday's celebrations that I could barely feed poor Colin when he woke up at 1:30. Just couldn't keep my eyes open. And when it was time to feed him at 4:30, I just brought him into bed and breast fed while sleeping (and protecting his head from cat claws).
Took a look at flylady.com again for the first time in probably a year. Decided I needed to get some general chores done because Jon and I got the house so beautifully picked up for Easter. So I got dressed, took care of personal grooming, swiped and swished the bathroom, started a couple loads of laundry (my neighbor/coworker was kind enough to gift us with heaps of clothes for the boys while she was at the thrift store on Saturday).
While folding the laundry, I had a sad moment. I was sorting between Liam's and Colin's clothes and realizing that they are growing so fast. Our baby is already getting too big for his NB sized clothes and I'm having to pull a lot of things out of Liam's drawers too. By best estimate, Liam is 39" tall already (I have a meter stick that he found the other day and was walking around banging it like Gandalf's staff).
And I couldn't believe it...Liam took a nap. Well I don't know if he slept, honestly, but he stayed in his room, quiet, for a little over an hour. This allowed Jon and me to do a bit more housekeeping. He tackled the clogged kitchen sink and I swept up the Easter basket grass that was strewn hopelessly across the living room, dining room, and trying to creep into the bedrooms. Poor Poppy, she'll be so disappointed.

bath!!!
Apparently this was a desperate plea for a bath last night. I was home from work. Jon was cooking up a little bass for dinner. Liam had managed to score one of the earasable markers that came with a set of mark-able books. But he was really good and was keeping it on some old copies of Jon's resume. He then got absorbed in Go Diego Go and must have been wiping at his nose because I looked up and he had marked red all over his face. No biggie since I knew the marker was washable too. But Jon took the marker from him and gave him another washable marker (don't know if Jon knew the red one was washable). So now my child is running around with a turquoise marker too. But did he draw at all with it? Not much. He pretty much went straight for his face. I managed to get one good pic.
Then he tried to play with my laptop (I was blogging about the new beds) and threw a fit when I told him "no." So I got these shots too. All-in-all, Liam ending up getting a bath last night and he did a good job washing his own face. :) Oh, please excuse my crazy-eyes.

look out!!!
Has discovered throwing objects behind him.
This is a delight now that he has real blocks.
Caught one in the cheek and one in the arm.
Those things really fly!

new foods need bath
Eating foods animal style, face first.
Kethcup is officially vegetable and also a face-in food.
Unfortunately for his bottom, loves chicken chili with beans.
Will definitely need a bath tonight.

Achievements
Liam's productive weekend:
successfully postponed nap time until after 2pm,
finally cut 4th molar,
spilled gallon of humidifier water on carpet,
went for sunny ride with new wheels.
Said "hiya."
